Tool supplier to relocate headquarters
Construction industry supplier Hilti South Africa is moving its headquarters from Johannesburg to the 2 200 ha multibillion-rand Waterfall City development logistics precinct, which is currently under construction, in the Midrand area of South Africa’s Gauteng province.
Construction of the new headquarters started in January and will officially open in September. It will include a 1 100 m2 tool service centre, where all Hilti tools will be serviced on the same day on which they are brought in.
Hilti’s retail store will also be relocated to Waterfall City, replacing its current store in Centurion, Gauteng, and a 600 m2 training centre is also under construction, where all staff, including more than 100 account managers and engineers, will be trained.
“After three years of growth exceeding 20% a year, we needed a larger building, and after a thorough market study, we decided to relocate to Waterfall City because it is practical in terms of logistics. “Waterfall City also provides all the safety and [supports the] professional image we are looking for,” says Hilti head of the subregion Southern Africa Dirk Dijkstra.
He adds that a major advantage of the new location for Hilti’s staff and visitors is that the new office will be close to amenities, including hotels and restaurants, which are especially convenient for international visitors.
Dijkstra notes that the professional and accommodating approach of property developer Atterbury – also the developers of Waterfall City – in signing multinational companies also contributed to Hilti’s decision to relocate.
“The new headquarters will also offer a bigger office space for Hilti’s sales and marketing team, enabling them to even better service its customers,” he concludes.
